YOUR home’s marbled counter tops in the kitchen or even your bathroom tiles might just serve as the inspiration for your next manicure. With more than 225 000 posts on Instagram tagged #marblenails, it’s clearly creating quite the buzz on social media. Lizanne Joubert, professional nail designer shared her tips for creating marbled nails with people. In just five steps, you can have a professional looking and totally cool manicure. Here’s how:

  1. Apply a base coat and then one or two coats of a colour of your choice. If you’re creating a white marble look then this colour would be white.
  2. Dot on the marble colour. This will be grey or black for a white-and-black marble look

Pro Tip: Lizanne suggests making the dots very tiny.

  1. Add even smaller dots of the first colour on top of the previous dots.
  2. Use a detail brush or nail art tool to swirl around the colours into an organic free-form shape.

Pro Tip: Lizanne recommends dipping the brush in remover or alcohol and going over the squiggly lines to get a similar blurred marble look.

  1. Apply a top coat. You can even give your nails a matte finish for a less shiny look.

Pro Tip: Add one or two stripes to marbled nails for extra pizazz!
